Today, we were lucky enough to lock into a needle in a haystack. A 98-point Napa Valley Cabernet courtesy of a winemaker who came from Michel Rolland, Staglin and David Abreu, and Jim Barbour, arguably the most famous and well-respected vineyard manager in the U.S. Robert Parker, Jr. himself warned all his readers a few years back, “these are all super impressive wines, so consumers should get on the Sinegal bandwagon before it becomes better known.”
Today’s wine is a complete bombshell, as you can imagine. It has outpointed Napa Cabernets that go for quadruple the price or more… a lot of them. Antonio Galloni totally raved in his 98-point review calling the wine “magnificent” “capturing all the pedigree of the vintage” and a “fabulous showing.” He even called his tasting at Sinegal one of the highlights of his month spent reviewing wines in Napa. What we have is really that good.
The 2019 Sinegal Cabernet Sauvignon is a stud. Even at $90/bottle it offers one of the absolute best values of any varietal in any wine region in the world made in 2019. It’s flawless. Rated higher than or the the same as Colgin, Bryant Family, Ovid, Abreu and Bond in the vintage– and available at just a fraction of the price. This is a collector’s item you simply cannot pass up, it’s got everything you’re looking for in a Napa Valley Cab.

98 Points, Antonio Galloni – Vinous
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is every bit as magnificent as it was last year. A heady, statuesque wine, the 2019 captures all the pedigree of the vintage. Inky red cherry fruit, mocha, licorice and spice race across the palate. The 2019 is bright, deep and powerful, with exceptional balance and tons of class. It’s a stunning wine, to say the least. The move towards a slightly less pushed style, with less overt oak signatures, has paid off big time. This is a fabulous showing.

With seemingly infinite access to some of the absolute very best vineyards in the most choice AVAs in the valley, the Wagner’s set out to make Quilt– a Cabernet blend from a patchwork of the top sites in Napa (Oakville, St Helena, Atlas Peak, Coombsville, Calistoga, and Howell Mountain.) The brand new 2021 edition is a beauty – deeply concentrated, rich and a truly show stopping Cabernet. It’s a dark, hedonistic blend that combines elegance with power and pairs the two together effortlessly.
100 Pts, International Wine Report – 98 Pts, Parker’s Wine Advocate – 98 Pts, James Suckling
“The 2020 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is truly sensational. It begins with striking aromas of fresh blackberries, blueberries and dark plums that are laced with fresh spring florals, mocha, sweet exotic spices, graphite and gravel nuances all taking shape. The palate is full-bodied and displays a remarkable combination of power and elegance throughout. This is beautifully structured and extremely expressive, as it possesses outstanding depth and concentration all they way through the long, finessed finish. Year after year, the Columbia Valley Cabernet is one of the most impressive wines, and there is no exception here, as it combines all the wonderful qualities of the 2020 vintage from Quilceda Creek into one expression. This is fantastic already and readers will be in for a real treat, as this simply marvelous wine will continue to deliver the goods for years to come.”
90 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Xavier Vignon’s brand spanking new CDR 100% is a thing of beauty. It’s already got a blessing from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate who described this wine as, “Full-bodied, concentrated and supple”. This is a gorgeous and intricate blend that features all of the Southern Rhone appellations. This year, the blend was 40% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah, 7% Cinsault, 7% Marselan, 6% Terret Noir. Nobody can do it like the mad scientist, Xavier Vignon.
This is a sensational single-vineyard Merlot made from incredibly tiny clusters, full of some of the most elegant, intensely structured fruit from high atop Sonoma Mountain. Beautiful weight and balance with aromas of blueberries, black currants, sage and a hint of cocoa. It’s got a full, plush mouthfeel, pristine and vibrant fruit and a wonderful smooth finish. Thanks to Chad’s big bet on himself, he was able to make a knockout Sonoma Mountain beauty, without the need for any middleman, helping us to enjoy one of his best creations at an outstanding price.
