This is a beauty courtesy of one of the oldest, most prestigious and hottest distilleries anywhere, Buffalo Trace. They only produce two batches of Stagg Jr. bourbon each year. The bourbon product is now officially just referred to as Stagg, dropping the Jr from its name following this 17th batch release.
These Stagg Jr. releases have absolutely exploded in popularity over the past few years, behind incredibly quality, super high demand and not nearly enough supply. The newest release is Batch 17, bottled at 128.7 Proof and released in the fall of this year. It has great notes of Rye spice, freshly baked bread to pair with double chocolate chip cookies and some cherry and peach notes. This is the last of the Stagg Jr. releases and really went out with a bang. This is a special bottle in very short supply.

True whiskey and Knob Creek enthusiasts are going to go nuts for this one. Knob Creek Rye is as outstanding as it is rare but today we’re lucky enough to bring to you, my own single barrel of it. This is a big gold expression of Rye that holds nothing back. On the nose, there are hints of dill, rye and essence of charred oak. On the palate, you are hit over the head with baking spice, honey and freshly baked bread. The finish is certainly a warm “Kentucky Hug” that goes on forever.
This is Joe Wagner and Quilt’s inaugural Red blend called Threadcount. It is a total knockout at the price point for this style of wine. It’s a big voluptuous wine and very fruit forward. The nose is straight up dark chocolate dipped raspberries and it tastes of fresh-baked blueberry pie, spice, and a touch of toffee. It’s the kind of quality blend that you’ve come to expect from the family behind Caymus.
This is my third private barrel of Bourbon that I sourced from Bulleit and my first since 2022. Believe you me, they give you a ton (and I mean a ton) of samples to go through to make up for lost time. The winning combo is something people are going to love. Allow me to introduce you to Barrel #5-B3-82. It’s smooth and layered, with a full creamy mouthfeel and manages to sneak in at 104 Proof. On the nose, I get fresh cut oak, vanilla and brown butter. On the palate, freshly baked banana bread, burnt orange and graham cracker.
This one is an aromatic fireworks show followed by a Big Red with a mouthful of red and black currants, plum, and licorice. There’s some notes of cedar, crushed herbs, and nutmeg here too that all mesh together nicely to create a lush, full-bodied wine with plenty of layers and a lengthy memorable finish.
