Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc is generally the number one pick when it comes to white wine from New Zealand. But if you want to find the steal of the down-under draft, check out Frenzy Sauvignon Blanc. The 2018 is a bang for your buck white wine, loaded with apples, pears and white peaches plus a savory note that makes the nose really interesting. Medium-bodied, it’s juicy and fresh– the perfect cocktail white.
What’s more is that the Wine Spectator reviewed this wine, bestowing a 90 point review that detailed its juicinesses calling out, “Succulent mango, melon and tangerine flavors that are fleshy and lush” We recommended drinking it on its own or with just about anything.

Great on its own or with Asian food, especially Thai as well as most seafood dishes and just about any kind of cheese.
The Zenato family has built up quite the reputation for delivering exceptional value with their red and whites in Veneto. Their Pinot Grigio is a particularly great value, punching way above its weight class. Delicately scented and soft on the palate, it offers classic citrus and floral notes in a balanced elegant style. It’s smooth and refreshing with a long, pleasant finish. Great with food.
From just west of Sancerre, Vincent’s vines are tended organically in flint-laden, calcareous soil which lends a great brightness to the wine. The wine is crisp and aromatic Sauvignon, and is a superb choice for a “cocktail” wine, as an aperitif or to accompany just about anything from sea.
Every year, Pierre Sparr’s Alsacian Riesling is one of the top scoring wines in the under $20 category. There’s a consistency there and consumers know they can count on a Riesling that is aromatic, fruity, elegant, clean and vibrant. Pierre Sparr wines are extremely food-friendly especially in the widely praised 2021 vintage where quality rose to an all-time high. It’s a bone-dry beauty with layers of citrus fruits, framed by wet stone and mineral character that adds dimension.
The newly released 2022 Domaine Laroche Chablis Saint Martin has some big shoes to fill as the last four vintages have earned 92-points or higher, but the early indications are that this is line with previous vintages if not even a little bit ahead at this stage. The problem is – there’s almost none to go around with much smaller yields. Still this is beautiful and crisp, with good focus, energy and depth. I get the signature green fruits on the nose, with some Asian pear, and a hint of jasmine blossom. There’s a beautiful mineral streak that highlights this one. It’s a fantastic White Burg for the price.
