What can you say about all that Felsina has accomplished in Chianti? In the 17 published editions of Gambero Rosso, Felsina has won the coveted Tre Bicchieri award a crazy 17 times! They have always been a favorite of Robert Parker, Jr. and the Wine Advocate and now the wines have won over James Suckling and Antonio Galloni of Vinous as well. The consistent quality, and the range between the regular baseline Chianti Classico and the flagship, full-throtled Riserva Rancia. These wines represent some of the classiest expression of Sangiovese and Chianti and remain the standard in Tuscany.
Their 2018 Rancia Riserva is still an infant, but it promises to be something extremely special. It ranked as the 3rd highest Chianti Riserva of the 2018 vintage according to Vinous, outpointing and outshining some of the most sought after bottles that go for prices two and three times what today’s wine goes for. This is set to arrive in early November, and quantities are outrageously small. I have just 30 1.5 Liter magnums to go around. Don’t wait if you’re looking to cash in on something truly special. This is a collector’s dream!

The 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is an absolutely stunning wine. The archetype of Rancia in the past has been of a big, potent Chianti Classico but in 2018, Rancia is a wine of mind-blowing elegance and finesse. Silky, perfumed and indescribably finessed, the 2018 dazzles from start to finish. It’s a magical wine in every way.

Winemaker Pascal Sirat consistently puts out some of the best value Bordeaux in the region but he may have outdone himself in what was a stellar 2019 vintage throughout the region. Just south of Pomerol, the vines at Panchille borrow deep in the soil. The resulting wines are ripe but fresh, with an aromatic complexity and stony finish usually reserved for wine twice the price. Daniel Boulud tells me it’s been the hottest bottle of wine at Bar Boulud for over a month, so I figured I’d better hurry up and secure my allocation! Don’t miss it.
#24 Wine of the Year (2022), Wine Spectator
92 Points, Wine Spectator – 91 Points, James Suckling
“This supple red shows a core of cherry and plum fruit allied to olive, juniper and tobacco notes. Delivers well-integrated tannins and acidic structure, lingering nicely on the finish.”
It’s no surprise the Wine Advocate has called the Ventoux a “screaming bargain.” Carved off the left bank of the Rhone River, the 2020 Delas Ventoux is a gorgeous medium-bodied wine with wonderful crushed red fruits, a silky mouthfeel, tremendous structure and that signature Rhone spice on the finish. I haven’t had this wine available for a few vintages, but I figure it’s the perfect springtime Red to bring back in the fold!
#3 Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2021
96 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate – 95 Points, Wine Spectator
We are one of the very few folks who have Wine Spectator’s #3 Wine of the Year. This is definitely not one to miss. The 2016 vintage showcases this prized vineyard in all its glory; notes of wild black fruit, thyme, mint, eucalyptus, and bay are lifted and enjoyed with the polished tannin and mouthwatering freshness of this wine. Regarded as one of the best vintages in the last few decades, the 2016 Martha’s Vineyard has been aged to perfection for immediate enjoyment at release and will continue to reward for the next 20+ years.
