The Chem. de Chantecaille is one of the most famous streets in France. If you have ever visited, it’s one that people go very slowly on so they can turn their heads constantly to get a glimpse of both sides of the road. The Chantecaille which leads through Saint-Emilion and Pomerol is home to some of the biggest names in all of wine, let alone just Bordeaux.
Chateau Petrus, Le Gay, Trotanoy, Lefleur… these are just some of the wineries sprinkled on this famous road. Most of these Chateau charge an arm and a leg (well over $100/btl to start with Petrus in the lead at nearly $4,800/btl). But only a few hundred yards away from Petrus along the very same street, sits a chateau where arguably the best bargains in the entire Right Bank are grown.
Chateau Gachon sits on 15 hectares of clay soils, close to the hamlet of Pomerol. Classified within the district of Montagne Saint-Emilion, the wines coming off this estate are classic Right Bank blends with elegance, structure and impeccable balance.

90 Points, James Suckling
Damien has crafted a delicious Médoc, full of character with dense black currant and cherry fruit, cedar, tobacco and wonderful complexity. It’s silky complexion is what pushes it over the edge (and, of course, the price!) It doesn’t hurt that it comes from a 95-point Left Bank vintage that the Wine Advocate declared, “outstanding.”
With seemingly infinite access to some of the absolute very best vineyards in the most choice AVAs in the valley, the Wagner’s set out to make Quilt– a Cabernet blend from a patchwork of the top sites in Napa (Oakville, St Helena, Atlas Peak, Coombsville, Calistoga, and Howell Mountain.) The brand new 2021 edition is a beauty – deeply concentrated, rich and a truly show stopping Cabernet. It’s a dark, hedonistic blend that combines elegance with power and pairs the two together effortlessly.
94 Points, Tasting Panel
This is a really exciting new release in the collection of single-vineyards from the Wagner Family, and arguably the most interesting one of the bunch. This is the only Pinot Noir in the Caymus collection that has the advantage of being from a natural Pinot Noir haven in the Russian River Valley. Dairyman Vineyard’s proximity to the pacific ocean, with its morning fog and afternoon coastal breezes allows for an even and elongated growing season, with super concentrated and expressive grape clusters that help make this Dijon clone Pinot Noir one that you need.
It’s always nice to be in good standing with one of the most beloved wine brands in America! These won’t last long! This is an opulent, powerful dark-fruited Cabernet with tightly woven tannins, that is just raring and ready to go. Textbook, full-bodied, revved up and ready to go, this new Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet is the definition of a crowd pleaser.
