It’s one of the most iconic names in American wine. Pine Ridge Vineyards has been a leader in crafting iconic Cabernet Sauvignon wines from Stags Leap District for the last four decades, making a mark with each vintage they produce.
The winery lies tucked beneath a ridge of pines, with a full view of the rugged outcropping of palisades that speak to the dramatic geologic origins of its world-famous soils. Under the direction of winemaker, Michael Beaulac since 2009, the winery has been lead to even greater heights.
In the monumental 2014 vintage in Stags Leap, a long, dry growing season created perfect conditions for rich, deeply concentrated and ageworthy Cabernet Sauvignon with beautifully structured tannins. It’s makes for a cherished Napa Valley collector’s item.

93 Points, Wine Enthusiast
Velvety thick with black fruit and pepper notes, this wine is firm with tense, fully structured tannin—a powerful backbone that contributes complexity and concentration.
93 Points, Decanter
Small amounts of Petit Verdot and Malbec add dimension to this rich, powerful wine that wears its alcohol well. It’s ultra-vibrant in its wild blackberry character, with a lingering, saliva-inducing finish. Tobacco leaf, spicy oak, firm tannic structure and synchronicity of all the elements is superb. At J Vineyards, Nicole is nothing short of a magician, making 30 different skus or more each vintage between her Pinots, Chardonnays, and Sparkling wines. For the vineyard’s flagship Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, up to 100 individual small lots are combined to make this great wine. Somehow, the blend is effortless–a quintessential RRV Pinot that has those soaring aromatics, bright red fruits, clove, and nutmeg spice with perfect balance.
Winemaker Pascal Sirat consistently puts out some of the best value Bordeaux in the region but he may have outdone himself in what was a stellar 2019 vintage throughout the region. Just south of Pomerol, the vines at Panchille borrow deep in the soil. The resulting wines are ripe but fresh, with an aromatic complexity and stony finish usually reserved for wine twice the price. Daniel Boulud tells me it’s been the hottest bottle of wine at Bar Boulud for over a month, so I figured I’d better hurry up and secure my allocation! Don’t miss it.
This is Joe Wagner and Quilt’s inaugural Red blend called Threadcount. It is a total knockout at the price point for this style of wine. It’s a big voluptuous wine and very fruit forward. The nose is straight up dark chocolate dipped raspberries and it tastes of fresh-baked blueberry pie, spice, and a touch of toffee. It’s the kind of quality blend that you’ve come to expect from the family behind Caymus.
#3 Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2021
96 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate – 95 Points, Wine Spectator
We are one of the very few folks who have Wine Spectator’s #3 Wine of the Year. This is definitely not one to miss. The 2016 vintage showcases this prized vineyard in all its glory; notes of wild black fruit, thyme, mint, eucalyptus, and bay are lifted and enjoyed with the polished tannin and mouthwatering freshness of this wine. Regarded as one of the best vintages in the last few decades, the 2016 Martha’s Vineyard has been aged to perfection for immediate enjoyment at release and will continue to reward for the next 20+ years.
