Seth was fast and furious on leaving his mark on the California wine industry. Joining Swanson at the age of 17, it was only three years before he was plucked to join the team at Caymus. And while working his way up the ranks, it was Seth that Chuck Wagner tasked with leading their new Pinot project which involved Chuck sending Seth to Burgundy for four months to bring back the secrets of high-density planting.
Never one to slow down, Seth left to start something of his own – LOLA – in 2008. His approach was incredibly refreshing. “I wanted to stand for quality. I wanted to make wines that have integrity and purity at good price points that I could afford to drink.”
The critics took notice.
“Seth Cripe set out to make a range of delicious, affordable wines. The Lola wines are fresh, bright and made without a lot of fanfare, all of which make them ideal for informal drinking.”
— Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
At 22 bucks it’s another sensational value from Seth to drink over the coming couple of years.
— Jeb Dunnuck
Seth never really had to struggle to sell his wines. You see, Seth’s side hustle is one of the hottest restaurant caviar brands (served at The French Laundry, Per Se, Meadowood, Bottega, Marea, Boulud, etc …) and his amazingly priced small production Chardonnay was gobbled up upon release.

90 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2017 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast went through full malolactic and was aged for five months in 30% two- to four-year-old French oak. It opens with toasty oak and baked apples notes over nuances of lemon tart, baked peaches and acacia honey. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers loads of oak-laced stone and citrus fruit flavors and a zesty lift to the finish. A little old-skool, but nicely done!

It’s hard to beat a great value white wine and this one is a at least a cut above the rest. One prominant industry insider called the 2022 edition, “the best white wine by any within $20/cs of this price.” It’s super crisp with a great mineral streak, and was carefully picked by hand when the temperature is coolest and is kept cool all the way into the press. From there, the effect of the mineral soil takes over, providing great finesse and freshness in every bottle. This white blend has great backbone and a lot of juicy fruit coming through behind aromas of flowers and stone fruits. At this price, it’s a no brainer.
From just west of Sancerre, Vincent’s vines are tended organically in flint-laden, calcareous soil which lends a great brightness to the wine. The wine is crisp and aromatic Sauvignon, and is a superb choice for a “cocktail” wine, as an aperitif or to accompany just about anything from sea.
Sonoma Coast is well-known as a cool-climate region, perfect for growing Chardonnay. That’s why it’s such a big deal for Route Stock to transition over for the first time from Carnernos over to here. The newly released 2022 beams freshness and comes packed with a delightful energy in its youth. It has a pale straw color with lime hues. The aromas are of honeysuckle, orange blossom and creme brulee with layers of vanilla and a hint of toffee. The palate is lively yet soft with flavors of lemon cream pie and merange.
The newly released Riesling Feinherb 2021 is a lively, juicy wine with an elegant bouquet of minerals, wet stone and ripe fruit. On the palate, the wine’s slight off-dry component is beautifully balanced by the steely acidity typical of the Mosel. Because this is freshly released, the fruit is vibrant and succulent and it comes in somewhere between off-dry and semi-sweet. It’s a great example of Riesling, especially at the price.
