Four Roses is totally different from the other distilleries. They use 10 different mash bills (recipes) to make their bourbon. The rickhouses are only 1 story tall so all the barrels age at pretty much the same temperature, meaning the “work” is done in the distillery. Each barrel tastes different depending on the level/temperature of the rickhouse. Four Roses blends certain recipes together to create their small batch and special additions. They always use the same recipe for the single barrel bourbon. Aged for 11 years, this bourbon is creamy on the palate with hints of vanilla, butterscotch, cinnamon and a pumpkin spice that balances out the sweetness.

This one is an aromatic fireworks show followed by a Big Red with a mouthful of red and black currants, plum, and licorice. There’s some notes of cedar, crushed herbs, and nutmeg here too that all mesh together nicely to create a lush, full-bodied wine with plenty of layers and a lengthy memorable finish.
This is a very rare single barrel Bourbon Whiskey to make its way to Jersey. Maple syrup, butterscotch, caramel & brown sugar with a palate of caramel apple, roasted almond, ripe banana and graham crackers. This one has a full mouthfeel with a nice creamy middle. The finish here lingers with just the right amount of burn. This was born on 2/3/2017 and bottled at 102 Proof. This is a great bottle of Whiskey.
This is my third private barrel of Bourbon that I sourced from Bulleit and my first since 2022. Believe you me, they give you a ton (and I mean a ton) of samples to go through to make up for lost time. The winning combo is something people are going to love. Allow me to introduce you to Barrel #5-B3-82. It’s smooth and layered, with a full creamy mouthfeel and manages to sneak in at 104 Proof. On the nose, I get fresh cut oak, vanilla and brown butter. On the palate, freshly baked banana bread, burnt orange and graham cracker.
Who doesn’t love Big Bottles?!? This is one I’ve never gotten before and didn’t even know existed before the cult winery reached out with “something special for our support” last week. You have to go all the back to the tough 2014 vintage to find a ‘Southing’ Pinot Noir from Sea Smoke that got less than a 95-point score. Not only is Sea Smoke’s winemaking team outstanding, but their single-vineyards represent some of the best land anywhere in the Russian River Valley. The ‘Southing’ Pinot Noir is the marriage of elegance and complexity utilizing the Sea Smoke Estate Vineyard along the Santa Ynez River.
