Their newly released 2023 Effet Papillon Rosé is an aromatic fireworks show made 100% from Grenache (as many of the best Southern French Rosés are). It’s so fresh and delicious with seductive aromas of fresh peach, Bing cherry, and orange with a hint of lemon zest. It’s vibrant, bright, and dry, making it a great wine to enjoy with food. However, this Rosé is so good, with its layers of complexity and structure, it’s more than worthy of enjoying on its own. Especially on a scorcher like we have today!
93 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate – 93 Points, Vinous
Fabio Sireci farms one of the most beautiful vineyard spots in Italy with amazing views. His Nero D’Avola vines average age is now incredibly 100 years, still magically producing tiny grapes with thick skins that allow for great aromatic complexity. This shows a powerhouse mid-palate of black, spicy fruit and a fine, long finish. As big as it is, the wine is fresh and terrific and has so much life left ahead.
92 Points, James Suckling
The Tinto Mendoza from Altos las Hormigas is one of those wines that shows the true potential of this famous region. It’s far more than just a standard Malbec-only region. The Bonarda and Malbec here are sourced from Lujan de Cuyo with the Semilion coming from the Uco Valley.
91 Points, James Suckling
This porous soil is heaven-like for Sangiovese, helping to sculpt grippy, full-bodied wines with tannins that somehow remain light and lively. The 2022 Chianti Castiglioni from Frescobaldi is fantastic. It’s a food-friendly home-run at a crazy Tuesday night price. 91 points from James Suckling, who called out “light tannins and a crunchy and delicious finish.”
