Over 150 years ago, Stags’ Leap Winery became the first winery in what is now a sacred wine region (Stag’s Leap District) when they set up shop in the foothills of the Palisades.
Today, they’re considered one of the great luxury Napa brands, with some of the most beautiful, elegant and age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignons made anywhere in the world. I have one of those bottles today – their most rare and I have it for the best price in America.
The perfect combination of power and finesse, this baby comes from Napa’s incredible 2019 vintage that is being heralded as one of the very best in Napa in the last 50 years. That may explain why this Cabernet is so darn good.
It might also be the vineyards. Only made in exceptional vintages, their Limited Napa Reserve pulls from top vineyard sites from Napa’s Mountains and the prized valley floor. It literally has it all – fruit from the estate vineyard in Stag’s Leap, Howell Mountain, Diamond Mountain, St-Helena, Atlas Peak, Mt. Veeder and even Spring Mountain.

95 Points, James Suckling
“This shows lots of perfumes, with blackcurrants, violets, licorice and tar. Full-bodied with chewy tannins and an underlying character of cedar, sandalwood and pine needles. The tannins are full and creamy, with a polished, velvety texture at the end. Delicious now, but better in three to five years, and beyond.”

#24 Wine of the Year (2022), Wine Spectator
92 Points, Wine Spectator – 91 Points, James Suckling
“This supple red shows a core of cherry and plum fruit allied to olive, juniper and tobacco notes. Delivers well-integrated tannins and acidic structure, lingering nicely on the finish.”
#3 Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2021
96 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate – 95 Points, Wine Spectator
We are one of the very few folks who have Wine Spectator’s #3 Wine of the Year. This is definitely not one to miss. The 2016 vintage showcases this prized vineyard in all its glory; notes of wild black fruit, thyme, mint, eucalyptus, and bay are lifted and enjoyed with the polished tannin and mouthwatering freshness of this wine. Regarded as one of the best vintages in the last few decades, the 2016 Martha’s Vineyard has been aged to perfection for immediate enjoyment at release and will continue to reward for the next 20+ years.
Winemaker Kian Tavakoli (Opus One, Clos du Val) continues to excel even while others struggle. In 2017, he still managed to deliver a beautiful and opulent Napa Valley Cabernet that’s both dark and juicy. The wine hails from both Coombsville and Rutherford, giving it distinct characteristics and a lot of drive. Deep ruby to the rim with excellent concentration, notes of Bing cherries, raspberry pie and hints of vanilla. On the palate, big wonderfully jammy fruit with young but impressive tannins and great length. The finish leaves notes of black cherry, and baked blueberry pie. Fantastic Napa value.
The 2021 Napa Valley East side Cuvee is an instant classic. From the first whiff to the moment it hits the lips, its clear that this is a fabulously concentrated, serious wine: black in color, and featuring aromas of cassis, cedar and chocolate-tinged purple fruit. The mouthfeel is plush and voluptuous with a firm, solid finish that speaks to its potential for considerable aging.
