The sister and brother team of Gaetane and Martial Carré is one of my absolute favorite new producers we have welcomed to the NW family of winegrowers. Sister, Gaetane is an absolute dynamo. She works the front of the house, a domaine their father Denis founded 45 years ago, with an infectious enthusiasm that any visitor within 5 minutes knows that they are someplace very special. Her brother, Martial, is a bit more low key. He drives the tractor, makes the wines, and quietly lets his sister sell them.
They work like bulls; together, with their parents, they organically farm 14 hectares of vines in Meursault, Auxey Duresses, Pommard and the Haute Côtes (or almost 50 acres). First up in what I am sure is just the beginning of many offers from this brilliant new producer is the Carré’s Auxey Duresses Blanc Les Vireux Les Vireux straddles two appellations, Meursault and Auxey, sharing the same exact soil composition and exposure just divided by a line that some wealthy bureaucrat drew a few hundred years ago.
My sense is that he probably didn’t own any Auxey Les Vireux on the Carré’s side of the vineyard….great news for us as although this certainly is a Saturday nighter, it’s at least 45% less than it would be if the Carré’s vines were on the Meursault side of the line.

This is a super elegant Meursault from the family-run estate located in the village of Monthelie, between Volnay and Meursault in the heart of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. It leads with nutty aromas of brioche, fresh butter and delicate citrus and is extremely well structured, long and stylish with great purity of fruit.
We’re nearing the end of what was a flawlessly crafted, high energy coastal Chardonnay release from one of California’s hottest spots. It’s still every bit as bright and refreshing as you could want and it hits with clean, pristine green apple fruits, pears and citrus notes with a hint of that limestone-influenced minerality. It’s a fantastic wine for all seasons, the perfect pair with mixed seafood, summer tomatoes, corn and freshly caught fish.
Sonoma Coast is well-known as a cool-climate region, perfect for growing Chardonnay. That’s why it’s such a big deal for Route Stock to transition over for the first time from Carnernos over to here. The newly released 2022 beams freshness and comes packed with a delightful energy in its youth. It has a pale straw color with lime hues. The aromas are of honeysuckle, orange blossom and creme brulee with layers of vanilla and a hint of toffee. The palate is lively yet soft with flavors of lemon cream pie and merange.
For years now, I’ve been absolutely delighted by the White Burgundies at Domaine Corsin. There’s really good reason for that. The Corsin’s holdings in Pouilly-Fuissé include many of the best situated sites in the appellation. This wine comes from a selection of older vines grown in these limestone soils. The current vintage is simply showing fantastic at the moment. The 2020 Corsin Domain’s Pouilly-Fuissé ‘Vieilles Vignes’ displays a bright golden hue with a hint of green. Its subtle bouquet with a woody-vanilla note enhances the slightly sharp, sophisticated fullness on the palate mingled with a generous underlying impression of toasted bread.
