Founded in 1975 by Carole & Tom Dehlinger, Dehlinger winery is still family owned and operated by their two daughters – Eva Dehlinger & Carmen. The estate is primarily composed of 20+ year old vines that are dry-farmed with a focus on sustainability, producing roughly 3,000cs of Estate Chardonnay & Pinot Noir annually and has been a consistent top player in the Russian River Valley for about two decades now.
Always a critic darling, this is what Antonio Galloni and Vinous had to say about the latest set of releases, “Eva Dehlinger presented a gorgeous set of 2019s. Over the last few years Dehlinger has added an extra dimension of finesse to the wines, and that really comes through in this tasting. These new releases are fabulous.” They’re not even the ones who went gangbusters– Wine Enthusiast went to town on Eva’s latest releases, making them all but impossible to get a hold of…unless you know someone ;).
The 2018 Altamont Pinot Noir is one of the most comprehensive bottlings they’ve ever had, and also one of the most highly decorated. All three critics were unanimous about this incredible RRV single-vineyard Pinot Noir, coming in at 94 points or higher. A rare feat.

97 Points, Wine Enthusiast
“A depth of berry and baking spice lead the way to a rich and rounded core of expressive varietal complexity and full-bodied weight in this extremely impressive wine. Clove, tree bark and forest accent the length and breadth of the experience, with fresh, high-toned accents of orange peel enlivening the palate.”
95 Points, Vinous
“The 2018 Pinot Noir Altamont has developed into an incredibly elegant wine built on effusive aromatics and bright acids, while shedding some of the youthful intensity it showed a year ago. Crusehd red berries, chalk, mint, flowers and white pepper give the 2018 a striking upper register that works so beautifully here. The clean, bracing finish is so engaging.”
94 Points, Wine Spectator
A svelte and elegant style, with cedary accents to the concentrated core of cherry and raspberry flavors. Shows minerally richness midpalate, followed by a long and pure-tasting finish. Drink now through 2027.

#3 Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2021
96 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate – 95 Points, Wine Spectator
We are one of the very few folks who have Wine Spectator’s #3 Wine of the Year. This is definitely not one to miss. The 2016 vintage showcases this prized vineyard in all its glory; notes of wild black fruit, thyme, mint, eucalyptus, and bay are lifted and enjoyed with the polished tannin and mouthwatering freshness of this wine. Regarded as one of the best vintages in the last few decades, the 2016 Martha’s Vineyard has been aged to perfection for immediate enjoyment at release and will continue to reward for the next 20+ years.
90 Points, James Suckling
Damien has crafted a delicious Médoc, full of character with dense black currant and cherry fruit, cedar, tobacco and wonderful complexity. It’s silky complexion is what pushes it over the edge (and, of course, the price!) It doesn’t hurt that it comes from a 95-point Left Bank vintage that the Wine Advocate declared, “outstanding.”

“The 2018 Palmer is a legend in the making…This audacious Palmer was still revving its engines 48 hours after opening. There will never be another Palmer like this, sui generis. It was a massive risk. But by throwing caution to the wind, something extraordinary was born.” -100 points, Vinous
91 Points, Wine Enthusiast
Always the one with the most personality of the bunch, this is what Wine Enthusiast had to say about the 2021 release: “This extremely ripe and bold style of Pinot Noir will please those seeking such lushness. Dark in the glass, it begins with black cherry, toasty caramel and cola milk shake aromas.” The cool, coastal days and abundance of sunshine lines up perfectly for a wine that has a good natural acidic backbone, with bold fruit-forward flavors. In an easy 2021 vintage, Joe Wagner had a field day with this single-vineyard beauty.
