The wine produced here was classified as one of fifteen Deuxièmes Crus (Second Growths) in the original Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. Located on the Left Bank, some consider Pauillac to be the best sub-AVA in the world.
Complex, elegant, and with incredible possibility for long aging, Château Pichon Baron epitomizes what makes Pauillac one of the sacred places in Bordeaux. This wine is aromatically complex and incredibly concentrated yet light on its feet. Your grandkids will be able to enjoy this wine; winemaker Christian Seeley says that classic vintages of Pichon Baron like this one continue to improve with age for 30-40 years!!

This wine is one of my absolute favorites from Pauillac and the Left Bank. Such a complex, layered effort and one that gets better every time you revisit it!

95 Points, Decanter – 94+ pts, Robert Parker
“A more classic year than the 2003 or 2005 on either side, really showing beautifully right now, still young but full of promise, tension and juice. This is an extremely elegant, balanced Palmer, with dark berry fruits, cassis and blackberry, touch of campfire smoke, salinity and plenty of juice running through the muscular tannins. Plays with you on the finish, stretching out its flavours, salivating, totally gorgeous, surprisingly so for a vintage that can get overlooked. One that you could happily open now, or hold for another decade or more.”

“The 2019 Gloria has a compelling nose: black fruit, crushed rocks, tobacco and very subtle marine scents that are all beautifully combined. Perhaps the most precise and delineated nose among an impressive array of Saint-Julien’s this year. The palate is medium-bodied with a lively opening. A touch of soy infuses the black fruit; fine-boned with wonderful sapidity on the finish. Extraordinary length. Serious.”

“This is a very linear red and layered at the same time, showing blackberry, blueberry, black-truffle, bark and stone character. Chalk and minerality, too. It’s full-bodied and well framed with gorgeous intensity and freshness. Muscular with wonderful structure and brightness. Salty and savory notes on the finish. Try after 2024.” -James Suckling
