60 miles further north than the rest of Burgundy – the wines can really struggle unless conditions are perfect – both with the weather and in the cellar. Great Chablis have an acidity that attacks your tastebuds, but too often in the lesser wines this goes unchecked – and unfortunately, too many of the top wines are overly saturated in wood – masking what makes Chablis great.
So believe me, I’ve tried. But over five years of tasting, I’ve just never found enough of a truly great Chablis at a reasonable price. Not only does that change today – but this wine is a walk-off homer at under $25 (when added to a case).
The Vocorets are one of the oldest producers in Chablis – and still family owned and operated today. Founded in 1870 – they’ve been through the highs and lows. In the late 1800s and early twentieth century, Chablis was THE WHITE WINE of the Parisian bistro set. Barges would jam the River Seine for months out of the year – bringing wine directly into the city.
But then Phylloxera ravaged the vineyards and when railroads replaced the rivers for commercial transport – Chablis was passed over. Many sold (or even abandoned) their vineyards, but not the Vocorets. They simply dusted themselves off – relocated vineyards and got the next generation ready to take over.

This is a super elegant Meursault from the family-run estate located in the village of Monthelie, between Volnay and Meursault in the heart of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. It leads with nutty aromas of brioche, fresh butter and delicate citrus and is extremely well structured, long and stylish with great purity of fruit.
Sonoma Coast is well-known as a cool-climate region, perfect for growing Chardonnay. That’s why it’s such a big deal for Route Stock to transition over for the first time from Carnernos over to here. The newly released 2022 beams freshness and comes packed with a delightful energy in its youth. It has a pale straw color with lime hues. The aromas are of honeysuckle, orange blossom and creme brulee with layers of vanilla and a hint of toffee. The palate is lively yet soft with flavors of lemon cream pie and merange.
Glistening pale yellow-green to the rim, infused with mouth-watering aromas of ripe apple, pear and quince, and crushed almonds with honey and rich creamy middle and a fantastic rush of acidity and minerality that are present throughout. A calling card of Bonhomme’s Vire-Clesse, if you closed your eyes and took a sip, it would have you convinced you were drinking Meursault at least a 3x price tag.
Year in, year out Château Turcaud produces one of the best white wine values in the world. It’s long been found on Michelin-starred wine lists in Paris and we’ve had it at the restaurant since Day 1. If you’ve ever tried this stunning, classic Bordeaux of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle, then you know why. The new 2022 vintage has arrived and it’s beaming with energy and pure stone fruits. This is a beauty as always.
