Basil Hayden is about to release for the first time as a limited offering their “Basil Hayden Subtle Smoke”. It’s a one-time release. They have told me it’s going to be very limited & each store is only getting about six bottles. They are suggesting that everybody use a release price of $100. I only got enough bottles for a Bourbon Buyers Club send.
Will other people follow this guidance? I have no idea because I’ve seen this type of deal before and prices quickly can sky rocket out of control. Will this one do the same? See above answer. I’m going to be as far as I can to the Bourbon Buyers Club and release it at $75 per bottle.
Basil Hayden says this beauty will use the same high-rye mash bill that fans know and love but will be slightly differently crafted using toasting and lightly charred secondary barreling to achieve a smokiness in a completely unique manor. This one is the campfire whiskey that people know and love. Notes of charred wood, smoke, with a little of the fresh baked sour dough smell and creamy butterscotch flavors coming through on the mid-palate that finishes with a little hickory smoke. This one is bottled at 80 Proof.

This is a very rare single barrel Bourbon Whiskey to make its way to Jersey. Maple syrup, butterscotch, caramel & brown sugar with a palate of caramel apple, roasted almond, ripe banana and graham crackers. This one has a full mouthfeel with a nice creamy middle. The finish here lingers with just the right amount of burn. This was born on 2/3/2017 and bottled at 102 Proof. This is a great bottle of Whiskey.
The third release of three batches from Booker’s Bourbon 2023 Collection is Booker’s Batch 2023-03 ‘Might Fine Batch.’ These mini-releases have become extremely popular, and for good reason. “The vanilla and brown sugar sweet notes come through very well from the white oak barrels this bourbon aged in for over seven years. The taste is great and full bodied; when I added a splash of water, it opened up some great flavors, with a finish that gives a lovely “Kentucky Hug. My Dad would say that this is a Mighty Fine batch of Booker’s.” -Fred Noe
Back in the day, Widow Jane used to be a staple at Nicholas Wines. But as its popular has gone crazy, it’s been tougher and tougher to get my hands on any. This is a hyper small batch bourbon that was aged for a minimum of thirteen years, non-chill filtered and proofed with Widow Jane’s signature limestone mineral water from the Rosendale Mines in New York. It’s a doozy of a bottle at 93 Proof and has notes of vanilla, nutmeg, graham cracker and sweet tobacco.
This is the first release of its kind and was just announced last week. I snagged six bottles as soon as I could. It’s a U.S. only release, and it remains to be seen if there will be others. The Redbreast Kentucky Oak Edition is triple distilled in copper pot stills and matured in American Bourbon barrels and Spanish Oloroso Sherry butts. Then it’s finished for a minimum of 4 months in hand selected, air-dried American Oak from the Taylor family farm in Kentucky.
