Michter’s has been recognized by whiskey connoisseurs as truly extraordinary. In recent years, they’ve secured accolades such as “Best American Whiskey” by Food and Wine, “Spectacular” by Robert Parker, “Magnificent” by F. Paul Pacult, “Whisky of the Year” by The Whisky Exchange, “Best of the Best” by Robb Report, and “Distiller of the Year” by Wine Enthusiast.
With a tradition in Louisville dating back to 1753, Michter’s is very much in the middle of the American Whiskey history. Painstaking attention to details is what sets these guys apart- including details like yeast selection; fermentation temperatures; distillation; wood selection and drying of staves; toasting and /or charring of their barrels.
This particular Rye was rewarded with 94 points by Tasting Panel, but I’m not sure that’s even high enough. The US1 Kentucky Straight Rye is made from select American rye grain that is sheared to maximize the extraction of flavor from the grain. This one has great notes of oats and honey, complimented by creamy notes of caramel and butterscotch. So smooth and delicious, you would never know this is bottled at 84.8 Proof.

Rich and creamy notes of toasted oak, vanilla, caramel, and fresh baked Bundt cake immediately flood the sense’s as soon as you pop this one open. Bottled at 100-Proof, you get a little bit of heat on the front palate followed by rich oak, leather and freshly baked bread. As it starts to open, you get some sweeter, creamy vanilla notes that cream in as well as campfire s’mores and a dash of pepper. The finish is long, and a bit spicy which leaves a memorable aftertaste and leaves you wanting more.
Back in the day, Widow Jane used to be a staple at Nicholas Wines. But as its popular has gone crazy, it’s been tougher and tougher to get my hands on any. This is a hyper small batch bourbon that was aged for a minimum of thirteen years, non-chill filtered and proofed with Widow Jane’s signature limestone mineral water from the Rosendale Mines in New York. It’s a doozy of a bottle at 93 Proof and has notes of vanilla, nutmeg, graham cracker and sweet tobacco.
Our third single barrel of Whistle Pig and the first time we have our hands on their 6-year PiggyBack bottling. This one leads with a nose of freshly baked pumpernickel bread, butterscotch and toffee. On the palate, I get a lot of citrus & peach with a touch of lavender & black cherry. The finish here is strong & long with spicy dried fruits and caramel notes that linger. This one was distilled in house in Vermont, and as anyone can tell you with the farm releases, they always deliver the best of punches. This one comes in at 109.8 Proof.
This is definitely one of the most unique private barrels of bourbon you’re gonna find anywhere and it comes from our friends at in Kirby at Wyoming Whiskey. It’s been two years since we’ve had this baby! They make their own whiskey in-house instead of getting it shipped to them and finishing it. In doing so, they use winter wheat to churn out a medium length whiskey with notes of honey, burnt sugar, cinnamon and caramel on the finish. It’s sensational – but I only have 120 bottles from this barrel to offer up.
