Chateau Leoville Barton is a classic estate on the left bank of Bordeaux in the sub-region of St. Julien. 72% of the wine planted at the vineyard is Cabernet, the backbone behind their powerful, age-worthy Bordeaux blends that are consistently excellent. In tasting the 2010, Robert Parker, Jr. called it, “one of the spectacular wines of the vintage” before taking it a step further with, “The beautiful purity, symmetry, and huge finish of nearly a minute make this one of the all-time great classics from Leoville Barton.”
The 2010 vintage in Bordeaux was one of the best by far of the last three decades. Excellence can be found across the board, but usually it will run you in the thousands. Along with 2009, the 2010 disappeared in record time snatched up all over the world by collectors and Bordeaux enthusiasts. Chateau Leoville Barton’s 2010 is every bit as good as any other estate’s in the vintage, with their own wine deemed perfect by Wine Enthusiast Magazine with a 100-pt score. This is a great opportunity to cellar a perfect wine that will age gracefully for another three decades.

This magnificent, solid wine is initially severe, with its tannins dominating, yet it already reveals a full array of black fruits. Very dense and concentrated, this is a wine that’s even better than the chateau’s legendary 2005. The structure tells of its extraordinary aging potential: Don’t even attempt to drink this for the next 10 years. (02/13)

“The flagship 2018 Château Lagrange is a more dense, backward, serious wine, offering an unevolved yet incredibly promising bouquet of cassis, blackcurrants, scorched earth, graphite, and violets. A big, rich, full-bodied Saint-Julien, it delivers thrilling purity of fruit, plenty of background oak, ripe, silky tannins, and a great mid-palate. This is serious stuff, but it’s going to require patience. Hide bottles for 7-8 years, count yourself lucky, and enjoy over the following two decades.” -Jeb Dunnuck

The 2005 Château Barde-Haut Saint-Emilion is the one you want. They totally outdid themselves in this vintage and I’d say that without the 95 and 94-point reviews. It’s just a gorgeous wine at an incredible price that over delivers every step of the way. Think black fruits, hints of spice, and an elegant structure that’s singing right now. It’s no wonder this wine is sought after by collectors.

“The 2014 Domaine de Chevalier is a total knockout. Precise, brilliant and finely sculpted, the 2014 possesses superb intensity. Freshly cut flowers, mint and sweet red berries, along with finessed but persistent tannins, give the wine its regal personality. The 2014 needs a number of yeras to shed some baby fat and develop the full breadth of its aromatics, but it is a fabulous wine by any measure. The 2014 is 65% Cab Sauv, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.” -Antonio Galloni

The 2019 vintage of Château Puyanche is their best and highest rated to date. It boasts a harmonious blend of Cab Franc, Merlot, and Cab, showcasing a symphony of flavors that dance on the palate. Expect to be greeted by notes of ripe black fruits, subtle spices, and a hint of oak, all wrapped up in a silky-smooth texture that lingers long after each sip. This is one that is great now, but somehow, even at this price-point offers years more of excellent drinking.
