Obviously, I can’t tell you all the details of the vineyard source but I can let you in on a few of the details. Crafted using fruit from 1000-1500 ft in elevation, Chad’s 2019 is cool climate Pinot at its best– especially given the price tag. While similar wines (very similar wines) will fetch a $45 price tag, you can snag it today just less than half off that price on bottle one. There’s no surprise this is the #1 wine of the year in 2020.

From the creative mind and winemaking prowess of Screaming Eagle’s own Andy Erickson, comes a passion project unlike any other. The goal at Leviathan is to make only one wine a year– the biggest red in the U.S. Sourced from some of the best vineyards up and down the coast (you can thank Andy and Screaming Eagle for that), it’s a big, intense wine that will only get better with age, though it’s great right now.
The Thirot-Fournier family farms 10 hectares split between Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot on the clay-limestone slopes of the Sancerre village of Bué. Christian Thirot-Fournier, along with his wife and daughter, tend roughly 10 hectares of vines. This is a classic, minerally-laden expression with flinty, floral notes on the nose and a zesty, fruity palate. It’s an electric bottle of wine that delivers in a big way. A star in a vintage that will be very light on Sancerre Rose.
The 2018 Titus Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is plush and vibrant – with aromas of black cherry, pomegranate, and fig. Cherry, purple berries, and gentle spice give way to plum and light oak with a tight finish that seemingly never ends. It’s drinking phenomenally now, but will continue to improve for another decade.
This is a new release and it’s quite the show stopper. If you’ve never had the Abbonna Dolcetto Dogliani Sori di But, you need to. Drawn off the highest vineyard in Dogliani where Dolcetto is the king grape. This one has tremendous energy out of the bottle. Dark violet in color, with wonderful aromas of black cherry, tea leaves and sage, fermented in steel vats to allow these ‘grand cru’ ancient plantings to shine through unencumbered. So aromatic and food friendly. A must try! Get it before these great vineyards are gone forever!

The 2019 Renegade Red is a gorgeous California Red blend that’s plush, silky and juicy and happens to push 15% alc. You never taste it though, it’s well hidden within its rich, juicy texture accented by flavors of black cherry, boysenberry, cedar and cocoa. It finishes long with a hint of spice — a guaranteed crowd pleaser for sure. This is arguably the best rendition yet out of hotspot Paso Robles where it’s connected with a fresh new 94-point score that recognizes it’s immense value in one of the domestic bargains of the year.
From Soave Classico’s most privileged volcanic-limestone hillsides, comes a brand new release that is going to dazzle a lot of folks. This is a high-tone northern Italian white bursting with white flowers, honeysuckle and stone fruits. Crisp and clean, finishing juicy and surprisingly long. A perfect complement to all kinds of seafood dishes, summer vegetables, poultry and light cheeses. There is no old-vine, small lot Pinot Grigio that exists for anywhere near the price of this one.
This one has always been my go-to for entertaining – I just hand everyone a glass upon arrival. The new batch of 2019 Barmes Cremant has just landed featuring a lot of freshness and energy, with a beautiful nose of green apple and Anjou pear with tinges of honey, white nuts and white flowers. The fruit is near perfect, richly concentrated with a creamy texture. The finish is endless, with the tiniest of bubbles, with a zippy acidity that makes it perfect with scallops, grilled swordfish.

The Bisol “Jeio” Prosecco NV is a delicious sparkler that comes from the Veneto region of northeast Italy. A brilliant straw yellow color, the first sip is an intense and fresh nose of citrus fruits and saline sensations. If you love fruit forward sparklers… this one is for you.
Fresh off a huge feature in The Wall Street Journal in which they were crowned as the top Prosecco Rose in a lineup of 14, I suspect what was once our little secret will explode. James Suckling also finally got around to tasting it and gave it 91 points. I’d rate it even higher. The 2020 Bisol Jeio Brut Prosecco Rosé is remarkable, and simply put, mouth-wateringly delicious. Inviting aromas of flowers and wild strawberries, with a complex mouthfeel that sings with citrus fruits and creaminess from the tiny crisp bubbles.

Blue Run Kentucky Straight High Rye Bourbon is a four-year, small-batch whiskey and is the first Blue Run product with Bourbon Hall of Famer Jim Rutledge overseeing the production, It’s distilled from a 65% Yellow Corn, 30% Rye, 5% Malted Barley mash bill. Only 100 barrels were chosen for this bottling, each toasted to a #4 alligator char and aged in Frankfort and Bardstown, Kentucky. This baby is a serious whiskey with notes of caramel, black pepper, stone fruits and a hint of toasted oak. It’s a winner and then some.
