W.L. WELLER is part of the Buffalo Trace family along with Pappy, Blanton’s George T. Stagg and some other greats. It’s always one of the hardest whiskies to get their hands on and it’s always beloved.
I have only a pair of bottles of blue label that I got in that I’m willing to part with today. W.L. Weller originally made this with wheat instead of rye bucking the big trend at the time. It forgoes chill filtration to preserve everything it has and at 114 Proof and as robust as you could want it, this baby has a lot to give. Vanilla, dark cherries and caramel are ever present as is freshly baked black bread, some creme brûlée notes and a little bit of s’mores and cocoa.
