Valéry is a Pinot and Sauvignon master who represents the third generation of his family’s wine growing. He’s known for extracting amazing depth and delicacy out of his small vineyards in Reuilly & Quincy.
He first grew up among the vines of Reuilly but traversed the world as a very young man, cutting his teeth in Oregon, Bordeaux, and Burgundy at Vincent Girardin. All of this by the age of 25, when he started his own small estate back in his home near Reuilly.
His grandad must have been some kind of visionary as he was the first to plant Pinot Noir in the limestone laden vineyards of Reuilly. That limestone is important, as it’s not just sunny days that makes Pinot Noir great. Limestone, like the kind we find all over Burgundy, lends freshness and tension to Pinot that make it great with food and even better with air. When it really sings, it gives that generous fruit a real sense of crunch!
This is the flagship Pinot from Valery that he offered up to us at an unbeatable price.

94 Points, Tasting Panel
This is a really exciting new release in the collection of single-vineyards from the Wagner Family, and arguably the most interesting one of the bunch. This is the only Pinot Noir in the Caymus collection that has the advantage of being from a natural Pinot Noir haven in the Russian River Valley. Dairyman Vineyard’s proximity to the pacific ocean, with its morning fog and afternoon coastal breezes allows for an even and elongated growing season, with super concentrated and expressive grape clusters that help make this Dijon clone Pinot Noir one that you need.
95 Points (Gold Medal), 2022 Decanter Wine Awards
The expert reviews on this incredible new release from Herve Fabre are insane. 90 points and a ‘Best Buy’ designate from Wine Enthusiast, 90 more from Suckling. Ditto from Vinous who called this “young, firm, with well-worked tannins and good structure”. But in a crowded see of nearly 20,000 wines at the Decanter Wine Awards in 2022 – this stole the show. The only 95-point, Gold medal Cabernet that you can get for under $20/bottle, its second straight year in the most rarified air.
96 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate – 96 Points, Decanter
96 Points from Robert Parker himself along with extremely high praise. “The wine hits all cylinders in 2010.” This is one the great Margaux wines of the vintage. Probably the greatest Lascombes made to date…” Add in 10 years of aging with perfect provenance and you have our top Bordeaux offer of the year. A third of the price of Palmer and a mere tenth of Château Margaux – $139 per bottle & free shipping on 2. You’ll want two.
92 Points, Vinous – 92 Points, James Suckling – 91 Points, Wine & Spirits
“The 2021 Malbec Reserva, from Vistalba, Lujan de Cuyo, was 60% aged in barrels for 12 months. Purple in color. The nose presents notes of fresh plum and violets, white pepper, strawberry, hints of spice and aromas from the aging process. It’s initially indulgent in the mouth, with good fat, and volume and a velvety texture. The flavors are bold and full-bodied. This 2021 overdelivers at the price.” -Vinous
