It’s easy to say we haven’t had a Ho Ho Ho Case of this magnitude before.
You know how I’m so sure? It’s simple math. This year, it includes a 97-point Cabernet from one of Napa Valley’s most iconic producers, Far Niente. Insanity. Never before has that been included – that bottle alone retails for $160. It’s a case of 12 bottles! That means the other 11 bottles you’re getting would go for under $10/bottle!
The thing is, the other wines are old favorites with, of course, some holiday cheer sprinkled in. CHAD Pinot Noir? Yeah, we’ll throw in three of those. They’re currently being sold for $23/bottle on the site…you see where I’m going with this?!?
Add three bottles of the dark-fruited, 91-point beauty of a Spanish Cabernet from the legendary Torres Family and you’re…still barely over halfway done! You’re also getting the new vintage of one of the Yantra Super Tuscan. That baby became a Nicholas Wines favorite in no time, and for good reason. I have the brand new vintage from the uber-promising 2022 vintage that I’m including along with three delicious bottles of Unshackled Sparkling from The Prisoner.
The Prisoner recently started making these semi sweet sparkling wines for $25/bottle, and they happen to be total crowd pleasers that have great lift and brioche aromas to complement plenty of clean, fruity notes. It’s fruit-forward with lots of bubbles – a lot of fun to drink.
Total it all up and you have $478 worth of wines in one single case.
The Ho Ho Ho 2023 Case includes the following five wines:
(1 btl.) Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2021 (97 pts, JS – 96pts, JD)
(2 btls.) Tenuta Sette Cieli ‘Yantra’ Super Tuscan 2022 (Not Yet Rated)
(3 btls.) Chad Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2022 (All-Time Top Selling Pinot)
(3 btls.) The Prisoner ‘Unshackled’ Sparkling NV (The 1st Year of ‘Prisoner’ Sparkling)
(3 btls.) Gran Coronas Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 (91 pts, WE)

93 Points, James Suckling
Avignonesi’s wines took Nicholas Wines by storm last year with their ‘Grifi’ SuperTuscan, a highly rated, highly delicious bottle that put the winery firmly on my radar. It’s a great bottle of wine, but at this price – it completely overdelivers which is exactly what you’re looking for.
This is a sensational single-vineyard Merlot made from incredibly tiny clusters, full of some of the most elegant, intensely structured fruit from high atop Sonoma Mountain. Beautiful weight and balance with aromas of blueberries, black currants, sage and a hint of cocoa. It’s got a full, plush mouthfeel, pristine and vibrant fruit and a wonderful smooth finish. Thanks to Chad’s big bet on himself, he was able to make a knockout Sonoma Mountain beauty, without the need for any middleman, helping us to enjoy one of his best creations at an outstanding price.
95 Points (Gold Medal), 2022 Decanter Wine Awards
The expert reviews on this incredible new release from Herve Fabre are insane. 90 points and a ‘Best Buy’ designate from Wine Enthusiast, 90 more from Suckling. Ditto from Vinous who called this “young, firm, with well-worked tannins and good structure”. But in a crowded see of nearly 20,000 wines at the Decanter Wine Awards in 2022 – this stole the show. The only 95-point, Gold medal Cabernet that you can get for under $20/bottle, its second straight year in the most rarified air.
This is Joe Wagner and Quilt’s inaugural Red blend called Threadcount. It is a total knockout at the price point for this style of wine. It’s a big voluptuous wine and very fruit forward. The nose is straight up dark chocolate dipped raspberries and it tastes of fresh-baked blueberry pie, spice, and a touch of toffee. It’s the kind of quality blend that you’ve come to expect from the family behind Caymus.
