St. Supery Dollarhide Sauvignon Blanc 2021

For true Napa enthusiasts, St. Supery is a name you will recognize. They’ve been making 100% estate-grown wines in Rutherford and throughout Napa for decades but over the last decade-plus, they’ve been doing it seemingly better each year.

They’re probably best known for their Cabernet Sauvignon, but their domestic Sauvignon Blancs, especially the ones made of Dollarhide Vineyard are amongst the best that we have.

This is a gorgeous, super highly rated domestic Sauvignon Blanc that even has the distinction of coming from a stellar single vineyard, Dollarhide in Napa. Four(!) different expert reviewers came in at 90 points or higher with Wine Spectator coming in a 92-points and calling it “distinctive” with 91 more from Suckling who called it “expressive, crisp and dry”. This is such a no-brainer of a wine selection, especially at my special price – the best you’re going to find anywhere.

92 Points, Wine Spectator
Distinctive, delivering lemon meringue and dried honeysuckle, with accents of fresh basil and lemongrass that add an aromatic twist to a core of citrus and melon. Drink now.

91 Points, James Suckling
Expressive nose with passion fruit, golden berries and fine herbs. Crisp and dry on the medium-bodied palate, which finishes with some bitter grapefruit and yuzu.

90 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate
A portion (16%) of the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Dollarhide Estate Vineyard was matured in wood, so there’s a delicate hint of pencil shavings on the nose, accenting scents of fig, melon and tangerine. It’s a bit riper and fleshier in the mouth than the estate bottling but still with excellent freshness and a bright, crisp finish. Best After 2022

90 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Dollarhide Estate Vineyard is a more complex, serious white offering medium-bodied aromas and flavors of ripe lemons, sappy herbs, and a touch of minerality. This Bordeaux Blanc look-alike is going to shine on the dinner table and, I suspect, have 4-5 years of overall longevity, although there’s no need to delay gratification.
