Shaw + Smith Chardonnay M3 Adelaide Hills 2022

93 Points, Wine Spectator – 93 Points, James Suckling – 92+ Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate

Wow! This a special pull for the Nicholas Wines faithful. If you love Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, this Adelaide Hills beauty will be right in your wheelhouse. It delivers that perfect balance – sweet, toasted vanilla from judicious oak alongside bright lemon, white peach, apricot, and hints of thyme. What impressed me most was how it remains light on its feet despite good mid-palate weight, finishing with mouthwatering acidity that makes the glass extremely hard to put down.

Original price was: $45.00.Current price is: $35.00.

“Stunning and sleek, with intensity and precision to the citrus, pear and white peach flavors. Offers notes of orange blossom and jasmine, with notes of fresh-cut Fuji apple and buttery shortbread on the mouthwatering finish.”

93 Points, James Suckling
A sleek, mid-weighted & very contemporary chardonnay, embellishing a pungent mineral chassis with roasted cashew, nougat and curdy creaminess. Vanilla-cedar oak, an integrated framework. Apricot pith, white peach and nectarine, too. The acidity, palpably natural of feel and really juicy, towing impressive length. One of the better recent iterations of this rightly popular cuvee. Drink or hold.

92+ Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate
“The 2022 M3 Chardonnay is nutty and spiced on the nose, with green apple, crushed cashews, citrus rind and brine. The wine is, true to form, polished, sleek and flavorsome. This is a bit of a cherished wine in Australia; it is reliable and classy, and this vintage is no exception.”

I can count on one hand the number of Australian Chardonnays we’ve offered since starting Nicholas Wines. Not for lack of quality – Australia produces world-class Chardonnay – but like their Oregon counterparts, most start at $40/bottle and climb rapidly from there.

That’s why today’s offer is exceptional. I’ve secured an allocation of Shaw + Smith’s M3 Chardonnay at a price too good to ignore.

The game-changer for Shaw + Smith came in 2012 when they purchased the Lenswood vineyard. Originally planted for sparkling wine, this site now brings finesse, flavor, and stunning natural acidity to their still wines.
