100 Points, The Wine Independent
The 2023 Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of 99% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, after a little swirling, the nose erupts with a powerful perfume of cassis, violets, and juicy blackberries, giving way to underlying Chinese five spice, dusty soil, and garrigue hints. Full-bodied, the palate is classic To Kalon—rich and structured with firm yet velvety tannins and bags of freshness, finishing long and ferrous. Gorgeous!
99 Points, Decanter
From the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, sourced from blocks near Highway 29, toward the back of the site, closer to the Mayacamas. One-third aged in concrete, and the remaining is aged 20 months in 70% new French oak. This site’s characteristic loamy earth and black fruit is evident from the first sniff to the last sip, leading with beautifully fragrant dark berry fruit, ironstone mineral character, and mineral-accented tannins, with excellent mid-palate density and weight, while remaining incredibly light, energetic, and almost bouant. Finishing quote long with great mineral richness and loamy earth intensity. Really a very beautifully built wine capable of long-term cellaring.

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard is another captivating, hauntingly beautiful wine from Realm. More than anything else, I am so impressed with how elegant the tannins are in a site that has mostly produced huge, potent wines. Crème de cassis, menthol, licorice, cloves and lavender all build in the glass. Creamy contours wrap it all together. This is quite simply a monumental To Kalon
