“It’s a gorgeous Cabernet delivering lots of red and black currant and plum fruits as well as complex notes of iron, tobacco leaf, and lead pencil-like nuances. These carry to a full-bodied, concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon with a beautiful mid-palate, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It’s clearly at the early stages of its prime drinking plateau and has another 15-20 years of longevity ahead of it.”

98 Points, James Suckling
This is really fantastic on the nose with blackberry, blueberry, lavender, and violets. Even sage. Full body plus extremely integrated tannins that are polished and refined. The balance and harmony is phenomenal. Goes on for minutes.

96 Points, Decanter
Just a classic and fairly reserved at this stage showing exquisite dark berry fruit, lifted red florals, a panoply of brown baking spices, and dried herbs leading with sage and thyme. Full-bodied with expressive earthen notes and classic, fine-cacao-dusted Rutherford tannin. There’s a touch of heat on the finish, but it resolved nicely, abetted by a saline mineral component and a final flourish of blackberry and black cherry fruit. 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot, 2% Carmén?re. Harvest: September 6 – October 18, 2013. 21 months in 85% new French oak barrel.

The 2013 Proprietary Red is 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot and Carmenere that was raised all in French oak. It’s a gorgeous Cabernet delivering lots of red and black currant and plum fruits as well as complex notes of iron, tobacco leaf, and lead pencil-like nuances. These carry to a full-bodied, concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon with a beautiful mid-palate, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It’s clearly at the early stages of its prime drinking plateau and has another 15-20 years of longevity ahead of it.

As you know, Quintessa stands as one of the finest estates in the world and the flagbearer of Napa’s famed Rutherford AVA. Their picturesque 280-acre estate in the heart of Rutherford typically produces a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. However, the 2013 vintage brought something truly special as you can imagine from one of Napa’s greatest vintages in 100 years!

I have a few Magnum bottles in their original Walnut Gift Box. This is a rare opportunity to lock into a cellar collector that is nearing its drinking prime from one of the greatest vintages in Napa Valley history!
