The 2019 Para Maria de los Tecolotes Rosé (affectionately named after Ruben’s wife and partner, Maria) is 100% Syrah, salmon-pink in color, with a great nose of ruby red grapefruit and red apple. Bone-dry and low in alcohol it is a classic Rosé very much like the first one Melissa and I discovered on a trip to the south of France many, many years ago. Drink with just about anything this spring and summer but if you really want to be reminded of Santa Barbara County’s finest…..just a good juicy burger.

The cuvee is a rather seamless blend with a melody of flavors. There’s cherries, cranberries, and raspberries with some more subtle notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. I think a lot of people are going to like it. It’s very well-balanced and in sync, with juicy, ripe notes, but nothing over the top. It’s still got silky smooth tannins and plenty of grace.

The 2021 was done with fully destemmed fruit, sourced from 2.5 acres planted in 2010 with four different selections. What stands out most in the wine’s natural concentration.” -Vinous
The 2021 Walking Fool is a beauty that is as big as its ever been in the fantastic 2021 vintage in and around Napa. This baby was aged for 18 months in a blend of both neutral and new and American and French Oaks. The American oak is what takes this wine to the next level– adding expressive aromas of sweet spice and earth. It’s a BIG RED with jammy cherry and blackberry fruits, licorice, brown sugar, and notes of toasted oak.
