This is a super rare get that I am thrilled to bring to the Bourbon Buyers Club. It aint Bourbon, but… it is a special, almost experimental Irish Whiskey from the world-famous Midleton Distillery.
This gorgeous bottling is a nine-year old Single Grain Still whiskey aged in in “First Fill” Bourbon casks before being finished in Virgin Spanish Oak casks. That’s a rare but deadly combination of something Midleton always does (single Pot) but also something they’ve never tried before with the finish. It happens to work like a charm. There’s nuanced flavors of sweet oak, pencil shaving, grilled pineapple and dried red fruits, with a lot of balance and synergy in the bottle.
