Jefferson’s Reserve Bourbon is made from four different bourbons all with different ages, like the standard Jefferson’s Very Small Batch Bourbon. Some barrels are as old as 20 years of age, making this limited release a pretty special Bourbon.
This particular bottling was from 2014. Most of the bottles you see in the market these days are from vintages a lot newer than that. The 2014 bottlings have been around for quite some time. But I laid into some inventory years ago, saving them for a special project, like what the Bourbon Buyers Club has become.
This rendition has seductive aromas of honeycomb, leather, baking spices with rich, velvty caramel with toffee notes, a hint of cocoa and cinnamon and a nice smooth finish that leaves only a slight burn with faint vanilla and butterscotch notes.

“Rich layers of spiced fruit aromas reveal themselves in waves; cinnamon baked plums, caramelized apple tart, and floral undertones. Concentrated flavors of mixed baking spices, peach skin, fresh tobacco, and brown sugar are luscious and ever evolving through the suede texture. A pleasure to sip.”
Our third single barrel of Whistle Pig and the first time we have our hands on their 6-year PiggyBack bottling. This one leads with a nose of freshly baked pumpernickel bread, butterscotch and toffee. On the palate, I get a lot of citrus & peach with a touch of lavender & black cherry. The finish here is strong & long with spicy dried fruits and caramel notes that linger. This one was distilled in house in Vermont, and as anyone can tell you with the farm releases, they always deliver the best of punches. This one comes in at 109.8 Proof.
Rich and creamy notes of toasted oak, vanilla, caramel, and fresh baked Bundt cake immediately flood the sense’s as soon as you pop this one open. Bottled at 100-Proof, you get a little bit of heat on the front palate followed by rich oak, leather and freshly baked bread. As it starts to open, you get some sweeter, creamy vanilla notes that cream in as well as campfire s’mores and a dash of pepper. The finish is long, and a bit spicy which leaves a memorable aftertaste and leaves you wanting more.
Bulleit isn’t usually one to come out with too many new or limited releases, but the ‘Frontier’ Limited Release bucks that trend. This American Single Malt was made with 100% malted barley, aged in new American spiced oak casks, and bottled at 43% alcohol. It hits with notes of freshly baked pumpernickel bread, candied orange, dried fruits, and maple syrup. She’s a beauty – just wish I had more to sell!
