Fuedo Montoni is not only one of the most famous wineries in Sicily, but in all of Italy– the result of centuries of excellence in winemaking. Both their red and white wines are certified organic and come out of the bottle dancing– lively with incredibly expressive fresh fruit with wild aromatics.
Timpa is the name of the cru from which the grapes hail. The name has its origins in the Sicilian word, “timpa” meaning strong slope. In fact the vineyard climbs up a hill with a degree that exceeds 70%.
The 2019 Grillo di Timpa is one that the winemaker believes very well might be the best he’s ever made. From 700 ft elevation this has an incredible vibrancy that everybody is going to love. We’re getting this one now before the scores come in and drive up the price. Exciting refreshing with notes of ginger, peach and mandarin. It finishes with a nice lingering acidity and citrusy notes. The perfect Pizza white!

Sonoma Coast is well-known as a cool-climate region, perfect for growing Chardonnay. That’s why it’s such a big deal for Route Stock to transition over for the first time from Carnernos over to here. The newly released 2022 beams freshness and comes packed with a delightful energy in its youth. It has a pale straw color with lime hues. The aromas are of honeysuckle, orange blossom and creme brulee with layers of vanilla and a hint of toffee. The palate is lively yet soft with flavors of lemon cream pie and merange.

Here it is king. Gianni Doglia naturally farms a tiny estate in the picturesque hamlet of Castagnole Lanze. “The 2018 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard marks the beginning of winemaker Joe Nielsen’s tenure at the winery. Pouring a medium yellow with a light golden hue, it’s most reserved of the flight aromatically at the moment, with yellow chamomile flowers, ripe peach, beeswax, and white flowers. Full-bodied, it retains excellent tension and focus on the palate, with apricot, orange zest, and a savory finish with a bit of spice. I suspect this will come around and open with time.
