Sommeliers have known forever, Melissa and I had a glass of it every time we sat at the bar at Maialino or Locanda Verde over the last few years. Besides being one the very best complements to scallop crudo or a plate of prosciutto, this level of elegance, complexity and length in Champagne starts at $50 and quickly escalates from there. Last I looked, Clicquot goes for $60 Billecart for $70 and a whopping $350 for Dom. Rosanna starts at $27 and gets down to under $25btl when you get to a case. I’ll take that all day.
The critics know now too. When Galloni’s Vinous Media laid a 94 on 2016 Rosanna, I had to fight for the last few bottles; this is hard to track down even with the NYC restaurants on the DL. When they all come off, all bets are off. Once again, the few bottles that make it stateside will disappear into $25 glasses, table side in the best places in the city.
Sergio’s most elegant wine is also his rarest and most unique. Rosanna is a sparkling rosé of nebbiolo, vinifed in the method of champagne. The source of its great vibrancy, the tension and length is the chalky soil of Serralunga, the premier village for Barolo. Mouthwateringly dry, it’s high toned and racy with just incredible acidity. One of the world’s great aperitifs and lights out at any table, do not miss. 94 points and a review that gets it right on the money. This is a beauty!

Pale pink. Enticing multilayered aromas and flavors of raspberry, almond paste, violet, rose and minerals. Very precise, with an almost piercing quality and lively clarity to its Nebbiolo fruit profile. Finishes long and bright. A knockout sparkling Rosé.
