Despite having only launched his domaine in 2002, Louis Boillot came armed with some of the oldest and best situated vineyards in Burgundy—thanks to the prime real-estate secured by four generations of Boillots n Volnay and Gevrey Chambertin. Louis’ domaine has quietly become one of the most admired small estates in the Côte d’Or but his latest project in Moulin-à-Vent has everyone taking notice including Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate who called out the wineries’, “superb examples of Moulin-à-Vent and Fleurie.”
Read their review below for this great wine:
“…medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with the broadest shoulders and most mid-palate volume of the range. This is a serious but beautifully balanced wine that’s built for the long haul.”

94 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
One of the more perfumed, elegant wines in this year’s collection is the 2019 Moulin-à-Vent Les Brussellions, a medium to full-bodied, ample and layered red evocative of plums, red berries, rose petals and spices. Deep and concentrated, it’s structured around ultra-refined tannins.
One of a growing number of Côte d’Or producers to acquire land in the Beaujolais, Louis Boillot—whose wines I taste every year in the cellars in Chambolle-Musigny that he shares with his spouse, Ghislaine Barthod—is producing superb examples of Moulin-à-Vent and Fleurie. Today, it’s their son Clément who has taken over the reins. Classically vinified and given an unusually long élevage by the standards of the region, these are serious, elegantly muscular cru Beaujolais built to age with grace, and they come warmly recommended. The 2019 vintage was another comparatively early harvest at this address, and this choice has been vindicated by a beautifully balanced portfolio that’s one of the most elegant that this new domaine has produced to date.

The new release is here from outstanding winemaking team of Michel Rolland, Charles Thomas, Andy Erickson and David Jelenik. This one always represents one of the best quality-to-price ratios in all of Napa Cab and in the stellar 2021 vintage, this really stands out as one of the best the Valley has to offer. It’s a racy mix of Coombsville fruit from Atlas Peak that absolutely roars out of the bottle. Always one of Napa’s great bargains and a must have even as the price starts to sneak up here a little bit.
Not Eligible for Futher Discount-From famed winemaker, Robert Foley comes an absolute delight of a bottle of wine. A seamless Bordeaux blend of 80% Cabernet, 17% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot that is incredibly smoothly now but should have another decade easy of prime drinking. It is the definition of a Saturday Night bottle of wine. One to cherish for a special occasion.
The newly released Fiancetto Howell Mt. Cabernet is a dream – a gorgeous, elegant dark-fruited Cabernet Sauvignon that is it picks up time in the glass, unfurls its full signature of cedar laced cassis nose and mid palate of chocolate-covered cherries and savory spices. Only four palates of this (224 cases) were made off a gorgeous, sprawling high elevation spot 1500 feet above sea level. It’s full and plush and finishes fresh and oh so long. The price is crazy for Howell Mountain Cabernet but that’s what Ry Richards and Fiancetto is all about.
91 Points, Wine Enthusiast
Always the one with the most personality of the bunch, this is what Wine Enthusiast had to say about the 2021 release: “This extremely ripe and bold style of Pinot Noir will please those seeking such lushness. Dark in the glass, it begins with black cherry, toasty caramel and cola milk shake aromas.” The cool, coastal days and abundance of sunshine lines up perfectly for a wine that has a good natural acidic backbone, with bold fruit-forward flavors. In an easy 2021 vintage, Joe Wagner had a field day with this single-vineyard beauty.
