Louis Boillot made some of the best wines I’ve tasted in Burgundy from 2017, with a rare combination of aromatic lift, concentration, and structured. The Gevrey Chambertin is a classic; intensely fruity with a mineral streak a mile long. It blasts right out of the bottle showing an intense, earthy red-berry character that reveals layer upon layer of complexity with every swirl of the glass.
This is premier cru level wine at the “villages” price.

“The 2017 Gevrey villages is every bit as good as the Chambolle from Monsieur Boillot this year. The bouquet delivers a fine aromatic constellation of black cherries, dark berries, black minerality, raw cocoa, grilled meats and a topnote of mustard seed. On the palate the wine is pure, full and nicely mineral in personality, with a good core of sappy black fruit, suave tannins and impressive length and grip on the well-balanced finish. Good juice.
Drink 2023-2055.”….John Gilman, A View from the Cellar

“The 2021 Malbec Reserva, from Vistalba, Lujan de Cuyo, was 60% aged in barrels for 12 months. Purple in color. The nose presents notes of fresh plum and violets, white pepper, strawberry, hints of spice and aromas from the aging process. It’s initially indulgent in the mouth, with good fat, and volume and a velvety texture. The flavors are bold and full-bodied. This 2021 overdelivers at the price.” -Vinous

This is a really exciting new release in the collection of single-vineyards from the Wagner Family, and arguably the most interesting one of the bunch. This is the only Pinot Noir in the Caymus collection that has the advantage of being from a natural Pinot Noir haven in the Russian River Valley. Dairyman Vineyard’s proximity to the pacific ocean, with its morning fog and afternoon coastal breezes allows for an even and elongated growing season, with super concentrated and expressive grape clusters that help make this Dijon clone Pinot Noir one that you need.
91 Points, Wine Enthusiast
Always the one with the most personality of the bunch, this is what Wine Enthusiast had to say about the 2021 release: “This extremely ripe and bold style of Pinot Noir will please those seeking such lushness. Dark in the glass, it begins with black cherry, toasty caramel and cola milk shake aromas.” The cool, coastal days and abundance of sunshine lines up perfectly for a wine that has a good natural acidic backbone, with bold fruit-forward flavors. In an easy 2021 vintage, Joe Wagner had a field day with this single-vineyard beauty.

Feudo Montoni has been one of the best producers in Italy for literally hundreds of years, most notably for their work with Nero D’Avola grape in Sicily. It’s a gorgeous expression at such a good price. The 2020 “Lagnusa” is the perfect pizza or Thanksgiving wine with juicy black fruits, grippy tannins and a wonderful, fresh and herbaceous finish. Vinous Media gave the wine 92 points and raved, calling it “remarkably fresh yet long, leaving the mouth watering while still resonating on hints of blackberry.” You’re going to love this.
