Domaine Jean Pascal et Fils Puligny-Montrachet 2024

Jean Pascal’s 2024 delivers everything you want from this famous village: laser-focused precision, crushed chalk minerality, green apple and citrus zest with that distinct flinty character that is unmistakably Puligny. Eleven months in French barrique adds complexity without masking the terroir. Master of Wine, Andy Howard, wrote that the wine is poised to drink beautifully between 2026 and 2032, with secondary notes of hazelnut, brioche and butterscotch developing over the next decade. This is a wine that will reward patience, for sure, but is already drinking so stinkin’ well right now. I had it two weeks back and couldn’t get enough. It’s a showstopper that you keep going back to, and one that blows you away, even as it starts to get a little warm in the glass. That’s the sign of something truly special.

Domaine Jean Pascal et Fils is a tremendous Burgundian producer that is now transitioning its labeling to Domaine Joseph Pascal. These guys stand as a highly attractive and practical acquisition for true Burgundy collectors. While it may not carry the astronomical, multi-thousand-dollar price tags of neighboring Grand Crus, it does offer almost an unrivaled quality-to-price ratio, serving as tremendous values for collectors that pay off.
