After studying viticulture in Beaune and undertaking several work placements in different estates in Burgundy, Eric Desvignes joined the family business in 1983. With a wealth of viticultural experience behind him and traditional know-how handed down by his father, Eric took over the Domaine in 1998 and today it extends over approximately ten hectares producing Givry Red and White, premier cru and village wines.
The combination of old vines, low yields and organic farming at the vineyard in Givry creates incredible aromatic complexity and a lush texture generally found only in wines with much greater price tags.
The Givry Villages 2017 is the bulk of the red wine production at Desvignes. It is is the product of 45 year old vines, rooted in rocky, steep hillside vineyards. Vinified entirely in oak, this is juicy, crunchy Pinot Noir with a lip-smacking mineral finish that makes it absolutely perfect at any table. Pair with grilled salmon, roasted poultry and mushroom dishes.

This is a fabulous price for a red burgundy that has the texture and depth of a wine with a much steeper price tag.

The next great Big Red in the long line from the Wagner family of Caymus fame. Like the previous Quilt offerings, this represents Joe Wagner’s pick of the litter of available vineyard sources that puts his inimitable blending abilities into play. In a vintage as easy and as heralded as 2021, the only difficulty the Wagners had was finding things they didn’t like. So explosive and juicy on the palate with a lush mouthfeel and silky smooth tannins. A winner for Napa and Big Red fans alike.

The 2019 Wentworth Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is a beauty. Made with 100% Estate Grown, organically farmed fruit from Wentworth’s noteworthy Anderson Valley vineyard. It’s made from a variety of different clones: Dijon 115, 667 and Pommard 5, that seamlessly blend to make an exciting, full-bodied Pinot. You can taste the extra flair courtesy of the 1/4 wholecluster fermentation. This is fresh and juicy and fantastic to pair with food.

“Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard opens with provocative ferrous, crushed rocks and tar notes over a core of crème de cassis, redcurrant jelly and raspberry leaves with a hint of wild fungi. The medium to full-bodied palate is taut with tension and jam-packed with pure black and red fruits, supported by firm, grainy tannins, finishing with uplifting mineral sparks. This energetic beauty needs some time. Give it a good 4-5 years in bottle and drink it over the next 25 years+.”
This is a sensational single-vineyard Merlot made from incredibly tiny clusters, full of some of the most elegant, intensely structured fruit from high atop Sonoma Mountain. Beautiful weight and balance with aromas of blueberries, black currants, sage and a hint of cocoa. It’s got a full, plush mouthfeel, pristine and vibrant fruit and a wonderful smooth finish. Thanks to Chad’s big bet on himself, he was able to make a knockout Sonoma Mountain beauty, without the need for any middleman, helping us to enjoy one of his best creations at an outstanding price.
