Founded in 1975 by Carole & Tom Dehlinger, Dehlinger winery is still family owned and operated by their two daughters – Eva Dehlinger & Carmen. The estate is primarily composed of 20+ year old vines that are dry-farmed with a focus on sustainability, producing roughly 3,000cs of Estate Chardonnay & Pinot Noir annually and has been a consistent top player in the Russian River Valley for about two decades now.
Always a critic darling, this is what Antonio Galloni and Vinous had to say about the latest set of releases, “Eva Dehlinger presented a gorgeous set of 2019s. Over the last few years Dehlinger has added an extra dimension of finesse to the wines, and that really comes through in this tasting. These new releases are fabulous.” They’re not even the ones who went gangbusters– Wine Enthusiast went to town on Eva’s latest releases, making them all but impossible to get a hold of…unless you know someone ;).
The 2018 Altamont Pinot Noir is one of the most comprehensive bottlings they’ve ever had, and also one of the most highly decorated. All three critics were unanimous about this incredible RRV single-vineyard Pinot Noir, coming in at 94 points or higher. A rare feat.

Xavier Vignon’s brand spanking new CDR 100% is a thing of beauty. It’s already got a blessing from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate who described this wine as, “Full-bodied, concentrated and supple”. This is a gorgeous and intricate blend that features all of the Southern Rhone appellations. This year, the blend was 40% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah, 7% Cinsault, 7% Marselan, 6% Terret Noir. Nobody can do it like the mad scientist, Xavier Vignon.

“The 2021 Malbec Reserva, from Vistalba, Lujan de Cuyo, was 60% aged in barrels for 12 months. Purple in color. The nose presents notes of fresh plum and violets, white pepper, strawberry, hints of spice and aromas from the aging process. It’s initially indulgent in the mouth, with good fat, and volume and a velvety texture. The flavors are bold and full-bodied. This 2021 overdelivers at the price.” -Vinous

“The 2020 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is truly sensational. It begins with striking aromas of fresh blackberries, blueberries and dark plums that are laced with fresh spring florals, mocha, sweet exotic spices, graphite and gravel nuances all taking shape. The palate is full-bodied and displays a remarkable combination of power and elegance throughout. This is beautifully structured and extremely expressive, as it possesses outstanding depth and concentration all they way through the long, finessed finish. Year after year, the Columbia Valley Cabernet is one of the most impressive wines, and there is no exception here, as it combines all the wonderful qualities of the 2020 vintage from Quilceda Creek into one expression. In the 2020 vintage in Gevrey-Chambertin, yields were super low and temperatures were hotter than most Burgundian winemakers are accustomed. Many picked too late when the sugars were high and the fruit really ripe, but that was not the play. Still, Ann remained as cool in those hot temps as she did so many years ago in Napa, concentrating more on acid levels than sugars and picking at just the right time. This wine is absolutely singing – it’s an age-worthy beauty that should be even better in 4-7 years.
