Graves is the oldest appellation of Bordeaux and is named after the unique gravelly soil containing dense pebbles. Protected to the West by the Landes forest and to the East by the Garonne, the terraces of the South of Graves benefit from perfect natural conditions conducive to the expression of vine.
Château les Clauzots in Saint Pierre de Mons is a place where wines are embedded in the terroir. The vineyard is situated on the left side of the Garonne, South of Bordeaux and dates back more than a century.
For five generations the Tach family have been custodians of the land. The winemaking knowledge and viticulture expertise has been handed down from Frederic, the current owner, to his two sons, Adrien and Maxime.

Bright, cheerful, well expressed white pear and peach fruit that has clear density, balanced out by sappy acidities, bright aromatics and good persistency.
Drinking Window 2020 – 2026
Carneros is well-known as a cool-climate region, perfect for growing Chardonnay. The newly released 2021 version has a delightful energy in its youth, with a pale straw color with lime hues. The aromas are of honeysuckle, orange blossom and creme brulee with layers of vanilla and a hint of toffee. The palate is lively yet soft with flavors of lemon cream pie and merange.
Almondo Roero Arneis Bricco delle Ciliegie Le Rive (Gold Label) is made from the estate’s oldest single plot of vines within the already heralded Bricco Delle Ciliegie (hill of cherries). This is only the fourth vintage of this label but it’s already considered by many to be one of the best white wines in all of Italy. Juicy peaches, pears, and a hint of almonds on the nose. The mouth is dense and fleshy, full of bright fruit, minerality and salinity notes with a touch of spice that’s the highlight of a finish that lingers and lingers in the best way. It’s an absolute treat that I really wish I could snag more than once a year.
We are super lucky to get a small shot at this one which is usually nearly an exclusive for the AltaMarea group. The newly released 2022 Sancerre “Le Mont” from Maison Foucher Lebrun is zipped up and juicy yet offers up complex aromas of gooseberry, citrus, fresh-cut grass, with a tropical zest. On the palate, the wine is very clean and crisp, full-bodied and laser focused, with a good core and a long, tasty finish that offers a dash of minerality and salinity.
Even though we’re ahead of the scores, I have no doubt that what I secured for us today will join the long list of high-scoring whites for Groth – this really has it all. Made in 100% neutral oak, the aromatics completely shine here as soon as you open the bottle. Fresh lemon, citrus peel and nectarine on the nose with bright acidity, impeccable balance and a lingering aftertaste that makes you want to come back to the glass.
