Chateau Leoville Barton is a classic estate on the left bank of Bordeaux in the sub-region of St. Julien. 72% of the wine planted at the vineyard is Cabernet, the backbone behind their powerful, age-worthy Bordeaux blends that are consistently excellent. “A juicy intensity with bright red fruits, delicate and alive in the glass – friendly but with a salty liquorice kick that gives it some seriousness. “Tasted from barrel, the 2020 Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia will be presented in the fall but won’t hit the market until spring of the following year. This is a beauty, so generous and opulent with fully seamless transitions. The wine’s traditional blend is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with tiny percentages of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, although this warm vintage makes do with a pinch less of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruit is selected across 107 hectares of Ornellaia vines, although the estate recently purchased an additional eight hectares next to Guado al Tasso in Castagneto Carducci, with terraces and vines aged between 15 and 28 years old. This broad and generous expression has a beautiful quality of fruit and oak that speaks to the very best of Italian winemaking.” -Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

Damien has crafted a delicious Médoc, full of character with dense black currant and cherry fruit, cedar, tobacco and wonderful complexity. It’s silky complexion is what pushes it over the edge (and, of course, the price!) It doesn’t hurt that it comes from a 95-point Left Bank vintage that the Wine Advocate declared, “outstanding.”

This Big Red completely sings with high-toned fruit, a wonderful natural acidity from the elevation, and super-clean, super-concentrated black and blue fruits. You get the blackberry, blueberry, and violet treatment at first with chewy tannins, a hint of minerality, and a juicy, lingering finish.
