Chartron et Trébuchet was founded in 1984 in the village of Puligny-Montrachet—the absolute epicenter of white Burgundy, adjacent to the legendary Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet crus. For four decades, their name has become one of the most trusted signatures in all of Burgundy, representing the kind of classic, terroir-driven winemaking that put this region on the map in the first place. Their story is deeply intertwined with Maison François Martenot, a house with roots going all the way back to 1859—originally created by Léonce Bocquet, the sole owner of the legendary Château du Clos Vougeot and one of Burgundy’s most fervent defenders. Through generations of family stewardship, the house expanded across every great appellation in Burgundy and Beaujolais, combining century-old regional know-how with a relentless pursuit of quality.
