The 2020 Broadbent Duoro Tinto drinks like a dream. It’s vibrant and fresh with a great acidic backbone to match generous red currant, cranberry, and bing Cherry notes.  On the palate, it has a smooth, easy attack, with supple tannins and a well-balanced finish.

90 points from Decanter, who argued this wine “shows that Duoro can makes wines that lighter in style and elegant.” Not too shabby for a wine that retails for $15/btl!

90 Points, Decanter
A wine that shows that Douro can make wines that are lighter in style and elegant. Sour cherries, violet, floral, cooler in style. Fresh acidity, tannins are well integrated and ripe.

Michael Broadbent set up Christie’s wine department in 1966, established Christie’s Wine Auctions, and together with Robert Mondavi, held the first-ever Napa Valley Wine Auction. He is a true champion of the region and of wine collecting. He also was a big-time wine collector himself.

Though he championed domestic wines, Michael had an unwavering love for Portuguese wines and was considered the foremost expert on Madiera. Every year, he traveled to Madiera to select the wines he deemed the best, and worthy of export.

His son Bartholomew eventually took over the reins and worked to build the market in Port for a decade. Eventually, as an ode to his late favorite, he started to develop his own. He sought to make easy-drinking wines with approachability yet enough quality to please a tough wine critic at an affordable price.

The Broadbent work in Portugal has been a fixture in the wine market for over 30 years. Now with a dry, light, and fruity Red, the Broadbent line is a true Portuguese powerhouse with no weaknesses.
