Blade & Bow has a very interesting story. The idea for the brand was born from barrels tucked away from the old Stitzel Weller distillery. That name probably sounds familiar because its where Pappy Van Winkle originally came from. If you have a Pappy from the Stitzel Weller distillery than you are sitting on a down payment on a house. It’s also where the orphan barrels were found to make Jeffersons 17 yr Presidential. Going into their warehouses to grab barrels must have been like going in to a goldmine. Blade & Bow still has barrels from the distillery that they use to blend in to their Straight Bourbon.
Is it Pappy or is it Jeffersons Presidential? It’s actually a little bit of both. Those are the patriarch and matriarch for these barrels. They have this pretty unique process to make it all happen called the Solera Aging System where no barrel is every fully drained from Stitzel so some of the most amazing whiskey blends ever are just kept in barrel — there for the future blending. It’s like getting a racing horse today from the Seabiscuit bloodline. You’re paying for some pretty good genes!
Aged in new charred American white oak barrels, this bourbon offers up aromas of fresh oranges and peaches with pear, freshly baked bread and some toasted grain. Everything comes together harmoniously, it’s a really seamless blend. On the finish, notes of charred oak, s’mores and winter spices and a slight but inviting burn that comes with this 91 Proof gem.

The third release of three batches from Booker’s Bourbon 2023 Collection is Booker’s Batch 2023-03 ‘Might Fine Batch.’ These mini-releases have become extremely popular, and for good reason. “The vanilla and brown sugar sweet notes come through very well from the white oak barrels this bourbon aged in for over seven years. The taste is great and full bodied; when I added a splash of water, it opened up some great flavors, with a finish that gives a lovely “Kentucky Hug. My Dad would say that this is a Mighty Fine batch of Booker’s.” -Fred Noe
Bulleit isn’t usually one to come out with too many new or limited releases, but the ‘Frontier’ Limited Release bucks that trend. This American Single Malt was made with 100% malted barley, aged in new American spiced oak casks, and bottled at 43% alcohol. It hits with notes of freshly baked pumpernickel bread, candied orange, dried fruits, and maple syrup. She’s a beauty – just wish I had more to sell!
Today I snagged a really special single barrel that I have been working on for nearly two years now with Old Forester. It’s a 128.2 proof dynamo that will blow you away, and you’ll love every single sip. The nose is of fresh leather, baking spices & cocoa. On the pallet, this one is a monster & hits you with baked apple. brown sugar, vanilla & cinnamon. The finish goes on for two days long with notes of fig, cherries & clove. It’s big, but she’s a beauty.
This is a very rare single barrel Bourbon Whiskey to make its way to Jersey. Maple syrup, butterscotch, caramel & brown sugar with a palate of caramel apple, roasted almond, ripe banana and graham crackers. This one has a full mouthfeel with a nice creamy middle. The finish here lingers with just the right amount of burn. This was born on 2/3/2017 and bottled at 102 Proof. This is a great bottle of Whiskey.
