Stolpman Para Maria Rosé 2019 – Santa Barbara (2 bottles)
Pete Stolpman and vineyard mangaer Ruben Solorzano combine to make a gorgeous Rosé that is 100% Syrah, salmon-pink in color, with a great nose of ruby red grapefruit and red apple. Bone-dry and low in alcohol it is a classic Rosé that reminds me of the first one Melissa and I discovered on a trip to the south of France many, many years ago. But his has that beautiful, pure Santa Barbara fruit that makes this so crisp and so hard to put down.
Clos Julien Chardonnay Price Canyon 2019 – St. Luis Obispo (2 bottles)
The 2019 Clos Julien Chardonnay Price Canyon is phenomenal. Easily the best Clos Julien in history. Much more Maconnais in style than any California offering I’ve ever tasted. From the budding wine region of San Luis Obispo. You can’t expect we’ll be able to offer a Single-Vineyard Coastal Chardonnay from this region that is this good in quality at this low a price moving forward.
Trousse Chemise Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley 2018- Washington (2 bottles)
The 2018 vintage in Washington was sunny, hot and dry. As the folks down in Napa will tell you, this is perfect for making purely concentration Cabernetets. Deep purple to the rim with aromas of crushed black and red fruits, it’s rich and generous and wonderfully pure on the palate. It finishes with that round, refined tannin backbone reminiscent of Bordeaux’s Left Bank.

90-92 Pts, Parker’s Wine Advocate – 91 Pts (Editors’ Choice), Wine Enthusiast – 91 Pts, Decanter
The wines get consistent high praise but 2018 is truly something special. 90-92 from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. 91 points and an Editor’s Choice designation from Wine Enthusiast. 91 more from Decanter who provides “There is so much to enjoy in the smaller appellations this year. Drinking Window 2022 – 2031” and another 90 point score from James Suckling. This is a home run value – especially for the price.
Every month, Nicholas Wines will ship two wines hand-selected by Nicholas Harary. Discover a new region, variety, or style! This is the perfect gift for both introductory and expert wine lovers!
It’s no surprise the Wine Advocate has called the Ventoux a “screaming bargain.” Carved off the left bank of the Rhone River, the 2020 Delas Ventoux is a gorgeous medium-bodied wine with wonderful crushed red fruits, a silky mouthfeel, tremendous structure and that signature Rhone spice on the finish. I haven’t had this wine available for a few vintages, but I figure it’s the perfect springtime Red to bring back in the fold!
Gold Medal (Best in Show), 2023 Mundus Vini International Tasting
The area has also been isolated from the rest of Spain for generations, which has kept the wine prices far lower than wines of this quality would be anywhere else in the world. That’s why, despite having the Torres family name on the bottle and the consistent huge press (including the Gold Medal & Best in Show at the 2023 Mundus Vini International Wine Awards in Germany), these wines can still be scooped up for under $20/bottle. It’s like the Sancerre pricing of yesteryear.
