From Soave Classico’s most privileged volcanic-limestone hillsides, this is a high-tone northern Italian white bursting with white flowers, honeysuckle and stone fruits. Crisp and clean, finishing juicy and surprisingly long. A perfect complement to all kinds of seafood dishes, summer vegetables, poultry and light cheeses. There is no old-vine, small lot Pinot Grigio that exists for anywhere near the price of this one.
The newly released 2020 Brunori ‘Le Gemme’ Verdichio is everything you’re looking for in a vibrant, food-friendly white wine. About a billion times better than every-day Pinot Grigio, the Brunori is an electric, vibrant white which combines delicious fruit and vibrancy with boasts a killer nose of white peach, honeycomb and almonds. The fruit is wonderfully concentrated with a salty, stony finish that goes forever. You’re going to want to add a few bottles to your collection ASAP.

“This great Barsac is just beginning to open up and not only has incredibly fine mango, papaya and star-fruit character but also something mineral. Great concentration and textural complexity right from the tip of your tongue to the end of the extremely long, very pure finish. You can enjoy this now, but I recommend cellaring it as long as you can, because this has at least 50 years of ageing potential!” – James Suckling
Corzano’s Toscana Bianco is a blend of six varieties, native and French, drawn from vines rooted in the gravelly, clay and limestone-rich soils of Chianti. After a cold fermentation in steel, blocking malolactic fermentation, the result is a mineral accented white and yellow fruit core that finishes beautifully fresh with lingering acidity. This ‘White Chianti’ is a rare and elegant treat. It’s also a treat to drink outside on the deck over some grilled vegetables, fish or poultry.

Bursting with energy and inviting citrusy aromas of fresh squeezed orange juice, mangoes and papaya. On the mouth, good tension and a touch of minerality to perfectly balance the juicy stone and tropical fruits that await. The finish is super refreshing and makes you want to keep coming back. James Suckling called the finish “lovely” and the wine “really well done”. He’s certainly not wrong.
92 Points (Editors’ Choice), Wine Enthusiast
The 2019 King Estate Pinot Gris is their best to date– the product of an exceptional vintage in Oregon with near perfect conditions for expressive, high-toned whites. The 92-point Editors’ Choice designation from Wine Enthusiast is a super rare feat for a Pinot Gris, but it’s a deserved one here for sure. Amazing notes of apricots, pear and juicy nectarine with a racy minerality on the finish that keeps you wanting more.

If you’re looking for the best version of this centuries old grape, look to “The Soul of Chianti” and Elisabetta Fagiuoli. This amazing woman has been in charge of the town’s most notable winery, Montenidoli since the 1960’s (celebrating her 50th vintage in 2021!) and though she’s viewed as an icon, she says winemaking is no different for her than making soup– a family tradition that has been passed from down generation to generation and just feels like a part of her. 97 Points from Decanter loved the wine and noted how it has “staying power and an unmistakable tang”,
It’s hard to beat a great value white wine and this one is a at least a cut above the rest. One prominant industry insider called the 2020 edition, “the best white wine by any within $20/cs of this price.” It’s super crisp with a great mineral streak, and was carefully picked by hand when the temperature is coolest and is kept cool all the way into the press. From there, the effect of the mineral soil takes over, providing great finesse and freshness in every bottle. This white blend has great backbone and a lot of juicy fruit coming through behind aromas of flowers and stone fruits. At this price, it’s a no brainer.
