“This is one of my sweetheart wines from Montalcino. The Casanova di Neri 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova offers a long list of aromas on an ever-shifting and fluid bouquet. You get bright cherry, rose potpourri, black truffle, caramel, butterscotch, sandalwood, road pavement and chalky mineral. In fact, each time I come back to this wine, that mineral element seemed to grow in intensity and scope. The wine offers a grounded fruit side that is contrasted nicely against a grounded oak component. The mouthfeel is creamy and long, and the wine shows terrific tannic integration.” – Parker’s Wine Advocate
It’s good to be in good standing with one of the most beloved wine brands in America! Our relationship with the Wagner family has given us seconds while many others still way for firsts. These won’t last long! This is an opulent, powerful dark-fruited Cabernet with tightly woven tannins, that is just raring and ready to go. Textbook Caymus in a great year in Napa. This might be their best rendition in a decade. Wine Spectator called this one a “rich and showy style”.
The second year of this elegant, silky smooth Willamette Valley Pinot Noir crafted by Bertrand de Villane of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti fame. Again it comes from the gorgeous Winter’s Hill Estate about 700 feet above sea level in the Dundee Hills. All indications are that the 2019 is going to be one of the best for Pinot Noir since 1991. A flawless summer that benefited from very little rain mixed with cool, breezy summer nights. With a round, supple mouthfeel and a sturdy backbone this will age gracefully for a decade plus. Bertrand’s wines just have a signature stamp that is unmistakably his. This is phenomenal.
For the serious wine drinkers, this year’s Deluxe 3-Pack is a ‘can’t miss’. It features an incredible and very highly scored new Red Burgundy release from Domaine Desvignes Givry. It also has an outstanding Sancerre from a monopole in Daulny’s ‘Le Clos de Chaudenay’. That’s grand cru Sancerre from an excellent producer. Lastly, it features the best $30 Syrah in America, courtesy of star winemaker Pete Stolpman. Newly released, it got 94 points from Antonio Galloni of Vinous who raved, “The 2019 Syrah Estate Grown is superb.” This is a Yankees Murderer’s Row type lineup.
